I never planned to build websites, here's why I do now

I didn't set out to become a web designer.

Honestly, the idea made no sense to me at first.

I already had more than enough offers in my business, energy healing, psychic guidance, coaching. I didn't need another branch. And there are plenty of web designers out there. Why would anyone want me to build their website?

But then my guides had other plans.

Let me back up.

How I ended up building my own website (in a few weeks of late nights)

I needed a website. Fast.

I was going to be presenting in a membership run by one of my teachers and mentors, and I knew it would be a wasted opportunity if I didn't have a website for people to visit afterward. I had a few weeks to get it done. (during the kids Easter Break!)

I had been looking for someone to design it for me. But it was hard to find a web designer who understood my niche, neurodivergence, energy healing, spirituality, and could deliver the blend of woo and strategy I was looking for. And honestly, I didn't have time to wait.

So I decided to build it myself.

After doing extensive research (thank you, ADHD and autism), I landed on Squarespace. It felt like the most user-friendly platform, easy to update in the future, and not too steep of a learning curve.

Like most people, I underestimated how challenging it would be.

But I persevered. I stayed up all night (more than once) to get it done. And I did. I had a functioning website on the day I needed it.

Mission accomplished.

Or so I thought.

The download I didn't ask for (and initially dismissed)

One day, not long after I'd finished my site, I got a clear download from my guides:

"You understand Squarespace now. You could build websites for other people."

My immediate reaction? Yeah, I could, but I’m not going to! Absolutely not. It’s a hard NO.

I already had enough going on. I didn't need another offer. There are plenty of web designers out there. Why would people want me to build their websites?

So I dismissed it.

The walk that changed everything

A few days later, I was out walking, which is when I often get downloads and guidance.

And this time, the message came through crystal clear:

"Build websites by working with the higher self and business guides of the entrepreneur. And activate the websites as portals."

That's when it clicked.

This wasn't just about web design. This was about merging the 3D work of building a website with the 5D (and above) work of energetics.

This was about creating websites that weren't just functional, but energetically aligned, activated, and magnetised to call in the right clients.

I was still dubious, (the who am I to do this belief was loud) but, the guidance didn't go away.

In fact, it was consistent and persistent.

I sat with the idea for a few days. And every time I tuned in, every time I asked, "Is this really what I'm meant to do?", the guidance was the same. The offer was the same.

So I trusted it.

Even though building websites was never part of my vision or my plan. Even though it made no logical sense. I trusted the guidance the same way I'd trusted myself to build my own website.

And here's what I've learned: when you trust and take the first step, the rest unfolds.

The Rumi quote comes to mind: "As you start to walk on the way, the way appears."

I moved relatively quickly after that. I upskilled. I invested in a bespoke Squarespace course. And then I started offering it.

Because I was willing to take that first step.

Suddenly, it made sense. I could do this. And not just do it, but do it in a way no one else was doing it.

The confirmation that it was aligned

And here's how I knew this was the right move:

The clients started showing up immediately.

I hadn't even officially launched the offer yet. I just mentioned in passing, in a membership I'm part of, that I'd built my own website and was now planning to offer web design to other people. I told them the story you just read.

Right after that call, one of the women in the membership messaged me. She'd been looking for someone to build her website. And just like that, I had my first client.

Shortly after that, someone else referred someone to me. Then another client came through a conversation. Then another.

I hadn't advertised. I hadn't created a marketing plan. I'd just mentioned it a few times in conversation, and the clients started coming. Steadily. Consistently.

And they've been coming ever since. In fact, I'm currently booked out.

That told me two things:

1. The energetics I've been putting into my own business, activating it, magnetising it, clearing blocks, are working.

This is what aligned offers feel like. They flow. You don't have to force them. You don't have to chase. The right people show up at the right time.

2. This offer is meant to be.

When something is truly aligned, the universe confirms it. Without struggle or striving, through ease. Through doors opening before you even knock.

That's what happened here. And it's been that way ever since.

Why I invested in a Squarespace course (even though I already knew how to build a site)

Even though I'd built my own website and felt confident in Squarespace, I knew that if I was going to offer this to other people, I needed to make sure I really knew what I was doing.

So I invested in courses specifically in Squarespace web design and SEO.

And here's what surprised me:

I thought I knew Squarespace. And I did, on the surface. I knew how to design a page, move sections around, add images, create navigation.

But what I didn't realise was how much of the unseen parts of a website are crucial.

Things like:

  • Heading hierarchy (H1, H2, H3—Google cares about this)

  • Keywords and SEO (strategically placed throughout the site)

  • Image alt text (I wasn't adding this at all)

  • Image file sizes (I was uploading photos that were way too big, slowing down page load times)

  • Mobile optimisation (making sure the site actually works and looks good on a phone)

  • Accessibility (contrast, readability, neurodivergent-friendly design)

  • Google Search Console and Bing Webmaster Tools (setting yourself up to actually be found)

Anyone can sit down and create a website in Squarespace that looks decent. But if you want your website to be discoverable, if you want people to actually find you through search engines and AI, there's a lot more that needs to go into it.

And that's what most people DIYing their websites are missing.

And I didn't stop there.

At a minimum, I do one hour of training related to web design, SEO, AI, or copywriting etc. every week. Because the digital landscape changes fast. What worked six months ago might not work now. Algorithms shift. Best practices evolve. I need to stay current.

But the energetic work? That's where I'm really immersed.

I spend about 12 hours a week in formal study, attending courses, deepening my practice, expanding my abilities. Plus my own daily practice of meditation and reading. Plus showing up and doing the actual work with clients.

I don't believe this work is ever "complete." I see myself constantly evolving and expanding, both on the energetic side and the digital side.

Because if I'm going to offer this to others, I need to be committed to my own growth. Always learning. Always deepening. Always staying current.

The most common mistakes I see in DIY websites

Now that I've been building websites for soul-led entrepreneurs, I see the same patterns over and over again:

Lack of SEO

The site exists, but Google has no idea what it's about. No keywords. No optimised page titles or meta descriptions. No image alt text. It's invisible.

Not enough white space

Everything is crammed in. It's overwhelming. Visitors don't know where to look, so they leave.

Poor mobile optimisation

The site looks fine on desktop, but on mobile? The text is illegible. Sections don't flow. Buttons don't work. And most people are browsing on their phones.

No clear call to action (CTA)

People land on the site and think, "Okay, cool. Now what?" There's no clear next step. No "book here" or "join this" or "start here."

Overwhelming navigation

More than five links in the main navigation menu. No dropdowns. No hierarchy. Visitors don't know where to go, so they bounce.

Walls of text

Big paragraphs with no breaks. No subheadings. Hard to scan. People won't read it.

No strategic flow

The site doesn't guide people anywhere. It's just a collection of pages with no clear journey.

The biggest mistake I see? I can tell it's a DIY website because of what's not been implemented. And it's almost always the unseen stuff, the behind-the-scenes functionality that makes a site work.

What makes my approach different

When I build a website, I'm not just designing pages and adding copy.

I'm working with your higher self and your business guides throughout the entire process.

I tune in energetically before I even start. I get guidance on:

  • Colours

  • Layout

  • How to order sections

  • What images to use

  • The overall energy and flow of the site

A lot of the time, I'm semi-channeling while I'm building. It's partly me doing the work, but it's also your higher guidance working through me.

And here's the thing: so far, the majority of websites I've sent to clients for their first look have required no edits. They're overwhelmed by how perfect it feels. Because it's not just my design, it's energetically aligned with them and their business.

But the design is only part of it.

Activating your website as a portal

Once the website is built, we do a one-to-one portal activation session (45 minutes to an hour).

In this session, we:

  • Clear any negativity around your website and your business, your own fear, doubt, patterns, lack of belief, but also any negativity sent from others (jealousy, judgment, skepticism)

  • Call in your higher self and business guides to activate and magnetise the website as a portal

  • Set the energetic foundation for your offers to be seen, for aligned clients to be drawn to you, for your site to work for you (not just sit there)

This isn't just energetic fluff. This is about aligning the 3D structure of your website with the 5D energy of your business so that everything flows.

Your website becomes more than a collection of pages. It becomes a portal, an energetic entry point into your world that calls in the right people and repels the wrong ones.

What I offer now: strategy + energetics

When you work with me, you get:

  • Strategic web design (SEO, accessibility, mobile optimisation, clear flow, strong CTAs)

  • Energetic alignment (working with your higher self and guides throughout the design process)

  • Portal activation (clearing negativity, magnetising your site, setting it up for success)

It's the full package. The 3D and the 5D.

Because your website isn't just a link in your bio. It's your digital home. And it should feel like you, and work for you.

Who this is (and isn't) for

This is for you if:

  • You know what you do and who you serve

  • You have a clear sense of your offers

  • You're open to working with energy, higher guidance, and the unseen

  • You want a website that's both strategically sound and energetically aligned

  • You're ready to be found, not just by people who already know you, but by the clients you're meant to serve

This is NOT for you if:

  • You don't know what your offers are yet

  • You're expecting me to decide everything for you (your energy and input are essential)

  • You're not open to the idea of working with higher guidance and energetics

  • You want to hand everything over and not be involved in the process

I'll design your website. I'll place your words on it. I'll optimise it for SEO and make sure it's accessible, mobile-friendly, and strategically sound.

But I can't decide what you do. You need to know what you're offering, who you're serving, and what you want your website to say.

If you say, "Do whatever you want," and then I come back with something guided by your higher self and business guides, but you had a different picture in your head that you didn't share, you're not going to be happy.

So you need to be ready. You need to have some clarity. And you need to be open to co-creating this with me, and with your guides.

Why Squarespace?

I chose Squarespace because it's:

  • User-friendly (you'll be able to update it yourself after I hand it over)

  • Robust and reliable (it's a well-established platform)

  • Energetically aligned (when I tuned in to which platform I should use, Squarespace was always the one that came to the top of my mind)

It's the best tool for the job, for you and for me.

So yeah, I never planned to build websites

But here I am.

Because my guides had other plans. And because there's a real need out there for people who can merge the practical, strategic work of web design with the energetic, intuitive, soul-led work that most designers don't touch.

Your website is more than a digital business card. It's a portal. An energetic entry point. A place where your aligned clients land and think, "Yes. This is exactly what I've been looking for."

And that's what I create.

If you're ready for a website that's strategically sound, energetically aligned, and activated as a portal for your success, let's talk.
